Our First Visitors / Unsere ersten Besucher

Klara, Mama, Gabe, Mark, Ramona

Our friends Ramona and Mark that we know from Germany live in North Carolina now and emailed me the other day asking if they could come up and see us. It has been about 3 years since we all were together last, so of course we said YES!!!!!!!! They arrived Tuesday morning, and left just a few minutes ago. We REALLY enjoyed having them here, and hope that the next time we can come to their place. We hope they enjoyed themselves as much as we did, except for the trouble Klara caused them the first night!! ;o)

Unsere Freunde Ramona und Mark, die wir noch aus Deutschland kennen, leben jetzt auch hier drueben..in North Carolina und neulich haben sie Duane gemailt ob sie nicht mal vorbei kommen koennten. Seit ueber 3 Jahren haben wir uns alle nicht mehr gesehen und so sagten wir natuerlich JA!! Dienstag kamen sie an und sind gerade vor wenigen Minuten abgefahren. Wir haben uns wirklich sehr gefreut, dass sie da waren und hoffen, dass das naechste Wiedersehen bei ihnen stattfinden kann. Wir hoffen ihnen hat es bei uns auch gefallen - bis auf die erste Nacht mit Klara - das war etwas besonderes:)!

They're here!!!! / Wir sind da!!!!

Nach 8 1/2 Stunden war es soweit. Unser Flieger landete in Washington Dulles! Die Landung war etwas mehr als heftig und Gabriel und mir wurde es mehr als uebel. Die einzige, die das ganz gut weg gesteckt hat, war Klara! Der Flug war eigentlich ganz ok. Geschlafen haben wir alle 3 nicht viel und dennoch ging die Zeit doch relativ schnell vorbei. Endlich gelandet konnten wir es kaum erwarten, aus dem Flieger zu kommen und den Papa wieder zu sehen. Natuerlich ging das alles nicht soooo schnell und wir benoetigten noch ueber eine Stunde ehe wir mit 5 Koffern, Autositz, Reisebett und Babybuggy UND dem erforderlichen VISA-Stempel aus dem gesicherten Bereich heraus kamen. Gabe entdeckte unseren Daddy sofort und drueckte ihn zur Begruessung noch ueber die Absperrung hinweg. Dies war endlich der Moment, in dem der Balast der letzten Wochen von mir abfiel und es ging mir endlich besser.

After 8 1/2 hours we got there. Our plane landed in Washington Dulles! The landing wasn't so fun and me and Gabe got really sick. The only one who was doing better was Klara! The flight was ok. We didn't get much sleep but the hours didn't seem to be that long. But we were all happy when it was finally over and we got closer to the moment to see our Papa again. Of course it all didn't happen that quick because it took us over 1 hour to get our 5 suitcases, the car seat, the travel bed, the baby buggy AND the important VISA-stamp out of the security area. Gabe saw him first and had to hug him over the barricade. This was the moment when I felt better for the first time in the last 2 months and I'm glad we made it over here.

Der Abschied von meinen Eltern und von meinen drei Freundinnen am Flughafen in Frankfurt war nicht so einfach. Samstag waren auch noch einmal mehrere Familienmitglieder zusammen gekommen, um uns zu verabschieden. Der Abschied hier war auch nicht einfach.
Am Flughafen ging dann alles Gott sei Dank ohne grosse Probleme von statten aber ich war wirklich schwer nervoes. Meine Koffer und das ganze Gepaeck kamen ohne irgendwelche Probleme weg und der Sicherheitscheck am Gate verlief auch gut.

To say bye to my parents and my three friends at the airport in Frankfurt wasn't so easy. Saturday some family members were over and we had a little farewell party together. The goodbye part is never really easy.
At the airport everything went well and without any problems but I was really really nervous. I checked the suitcases and other stuff in without any more discussions and the security check at the gate was easy also.

Wir alle lieben unser neues zu Hause und sind begeistert und stolz auf Duane, dass er tatsaechlich so was schoenes fuer uns gefunden hat. Wir fuehlen und jetzt schon wohl und fuellen das Haus mit Leben. Ich bin mir sicher, wir werden hier eine schoene Zeit haben - egal fuer wie lange.

We all love our new home and are happy and proud of Duane that he found a place like that for us. We feel good in here and fill this place with life and happiness. I'm sure we will have a nice time here - no matter for how long this will be.

Today has arrived....

Well it's only a few hours until my family will be leaving Germany for their flight to here. I hope everything works out for them and they have no problems!!! I want to thank the family and friends that have been reading our blogs and also thank them for their thoughts and prayers!! I just want to say I love and miss you all, and can't wait until we meet again......
