Gestern war es soweit. Gabriel hat Post geschaut, wie jeden Tag und ... die Social Security Nummern sind da. Nachdem wir, auf den Tipp von Martina hin, nochmals hier in das Buero in Culpeper sind und ich freitags mit den Kindern dann die Nummern NOCHMALS beantragt habe waren die doch glatt innerhalb von 6 Tagen hier. Tausend Dank an Martina fuer den Hinweis und Du hattest recht! Nur so scheint es zu funktionieren.

Yesterday they got here. Gabriel checked mail like he does every day and ... our Social Security Numbers were here. After the hint from Martina (my old friend from Mainz living in Colorado Springs now) the kids and mama went to the social security office here in Culpeper last friday and I applied for the numbers AGAIN. And in 6 days they got here. Thank you so much Martina and you were right! That seems to be the only way how it works.

Und wir haben noch was neues. GABRIEL hat das Loch im Pool gefunden:). Jawohl!!

And we have something else to share. GABRIEL found the hole in our pool:). Yes HE did!!

Pooltime / Poolzeit

Auch Klara muss natuerlich den Pool testen. Leider koennen wir diesen derzeit nicht komplett befuellen, wie es sich gehoert. Aber so hatten wir auch unseren Spass. Klara ist sehr vorsichtig aber hat trotzdem Vergnuegen an dem kuehlen Nass - bei dieser Hitze verstaendlich.

Even Klara has to try the pool. To bad we can't fill it up the way it should be. But we did have some fun. Klara is really careful but enjoys it in there - understandable while it is still so hot here.

Brandy Station Fair / Unsere 1. Kerb (Mess')

Am Samstag, den 02. August 2008 waren wir auf unserer ersten "Fair" = Kerb/Messe in Brandy Station. Ein kleiner Ort ganz nah bei Culpeper. Wir waren erstaunt, was es hier alles so gab. Es war klein aber fein und super super heiss! (Was 'ne Ueberraschung:) )
Es gab viele Fahrgeschaefte und Schiessbuden und natuerlich auch Essen, Trinken und Eis und und und. Alles, was das Herz begehrt.

Saturday, the 2nd of August 2008 we went to our first Fair in Brandy Station. Not far from Culpeper. We were really surprised what we found here. It was small but nice and really really hot! (What a surprise:) ) They had some fair attractions and food, drinks and ice cream and and and. Anything you asked for.

Was hier wirklich sehr schoen war, besonders fuer die Kinder, egal was man spielte und wie viel oder wenig man an Punkten erzielte - es gab IMMER einen Gewinn. Und ehrlich gesagt schoenere als das, was wir aus Deutschland an kleinen Preisen dann kennen. Das hat uns sehr gut gefallen und man bekam ein bissl was fuer sein Geld.

What we really liked here, and especially the kids, whatever we played and how much or how less points you got - you ALWAYS won something. And to be honest those small wins were much nicer then the ones we would get in Germany. We really enjoyed that because you always got something for your money.

Es gab auch noch eine weitere Attraktion fuer die Kinder und Erwachsenen. Veranstaltet wurde die Fair von der Feuerwehr dort und es gab einen Rettungshubschrauber zu bestaunen. Das war schon sehr interessant und einige Zeit spaeter sahen wir diesen dann auch davon fliegen.

They had another attraction for the kids and adults. The fire department had set up the Fair and we were able to look at a helicopter and sit inside as well. This was really interesting and a few hours later we saw it taking off.

Diese beiden Fotos hier unten solltet ihr euch mal genauer ansehen. Wir fanden das total lustig. Direkt neben dem Ticket Verkaufsstand steht ein Geldautomat...mitten auf dem Platz:).

You need to look at these two photos a bit closer. We found it really funny. Right next to the ticket place they have set up a ATM machine ... in the middle of the Fair.:)

30. Juli 2008!! Gabriels Geburtstag ist da!! Wir hatten versucht, es ihm ein bissl gemuetlich zu machen. Es gab zwei Kuchen. Einen amerikanischen und einen deutschen. Per Post waren auch ein paar Geschenke und Karten gekommen, ueber die er sich riesig gefreut hat.

30th of July 2008!! Gabriel's Birthday!! We tried to make it a bit nice and comfortable for him this morning. We had two cakes. An american and a german one. He also got mail and gifts from Germany what made him really happy.

Von Michaela gab es ein super cooles 05 Tshirt. Es gab natuerlich auch noch ein paar Suessigkeiten von ihr. Vielen Dank Michi!!

Von "Onkel" Roman kam auch ein kleines Paecken mit einem 05 Trikot. Auch dieses loeste groesste Begeisterung aus!!

"Uncle" Roman had send a package with a 05 jersey. This was a big surprise also.

Und dies ist das Geschenk von Mama und Papa. Ein Pool, der hier gerade befuellt wird. Bei weitem noch nicht die Hoehe, die er eigentlich hat. Das erste aufpumpen und befuellen hat uns ueber 3 Stunden gekostet:). Keiner hat sich das Ding soooo gross vorgestellt. Aber es ist total klasse. LEIDER ist irgend etwas nicht so ganz ok, so dass wir den Pool erst einmal richtig auskosten konnten. Derzeit bleibt er etwas flach, aber zum planschen langt es. Wir hoffen, dass unser Papa das noch hinbekommt und sich das Teil mal genauer anschaut und evtl. das Loechlein findet. Nichts desto trotz ist es eine schoene Sache und ein neuer Zeitvertreib.

And this is the gift from Mama and Papa. A pool, which we were getting ready to fill up here. Right now it isn't at the height it actually has. The first time we set and filled it up it took us about 3 hours:). We didn't expect it to be that big but it is really a great thing. UNFORTUNATELY something isn't right so we were able to enjoy that pool only once fully inflated. At the moment it has to stay more flat but we can still have some fun in it. We hope our daddy can do something about it and hopefully find the hole it might have. Still we have some nice times in there and it is also another thing we can do at home.
