4. July Die Parade / The parade

Nachdem wir uns zu Hause wieder etwas abgekuehlt und gestaerkt hatten, ging es am Nachmittag dann zur Parade. Wir waren sehr neugierig, wie das wohl werden wird und waren am Ende positiv ueberrascht. Es war nach wie vor noch sehr heiss aber es wurde sehr dunkel und stuermig. Gott sei Dank blieb es bei dem Wind und Donnergrollen und wenigen Tropfen.

After we took a break at home and cooled down a bit we went to the parade in the afternoon. We were very excited and were wondering how this will be and we were really surprised how nice it was in the end. It was still very hot but it got dark and windy. Thank God it stayed that way and besides some thunder and a few drops we stayed dry.

Die erste Gruppe hier war gleich richtig beeindruckend. Mit passender Musik wurde die Parade gestartet und die Stimmung am Strassenrand war wirklich super.
The first group was really impressing to us. They started the parade with just the right music and everybody had a good time.

Die Feuerwehr und auch Krankenwagen waren maechtig laut. Alle hupten und winkten.
The firetrucks and ambulances were really loud. They all blew the horns and were waving.

Das Ende der Parade. Natuerlich haben wir nicht jeden Wagen der vorbeifuhr geknipst, aber es war wirklich sehr schoen. Vor der Parade wurden Bleistifte verteilt und waehrend des Umzuges wurden auch Lollies und Bonbons verteilt.
The end of the parade. Of course we didn't take a picture of each car or truck that passed by but it was really great. Before the parade had started they gave pens out and during the parade we got lollipops and candies.

Leider versagte die Batterie unserer Kamera und wir koennen Euch nicht die Feierlichkeiten im Park in der Naehe zeigen. Aber es war auch dort schoen. Es gab Essen und Trinken und Huepfburgen und andere Angebote fuer die Kinder. Wir schauten uns um und Gabe hatte seine erste amerikanische Zuckerwatte...in blau/tuerkis.
To bad the battery of the camera went dead and we can't show you the things that were going on in the park near by. They had things to eat and drink there and offered different kind of things to the kids to entertain them. We were looking around and Gabe had his first cotton candy ... in blue.

Nachdem wir uns ein bissl Haehnchen und Getraenke besorgt hatten gingen wir heim und warteten auf unseren Papa. Gegen Abend gingen dann meine beiden Maenner zum Feuerwerk und ich blieb mit Klara, die ja schlafen musste, zu Hause.
Ueber eine halbe Stunde krachte und zischte es gewaltig da draussen. So heftig, dass ich echt ein wenig Angst bekam:). Doch ich konnte das ganze bequem von der Couch aus sehen und auch ein bissl dran teilnehmen.
Leider begann mit dem Feuerwerk auch der Regen und dieser hielt die ganze Zeit an. So kamen meine beiden Helden happy aber durchweicht spaeter am Abend wieder nach Hause. Doch der Regen konnte die Begeisterung nicht schwaechen und auch unser Papa hatte dann doch noch einen angenehmen 4. Juli.

After we got something to drink and some chicken we walked back home and waited for our Dad to come home from work. Later my two men went to watch the firework in the park and I stayed at home with Klara because she had to sleep. Over half an hour it was really loud out there and I got a bit scared:). But I was sitting on my couch and watched some of it through the window.
When the firework started the rain did too and it was bad. My two heroes came back home later that evening - all wet but happy. But the rain didn't mess up there evening and our Dad finally had a nice evening as well.

4.July: Car and Bike Show/ Auto und Motorradshow

4. July = Independence day / Unabhaengigkeitstag

Unser erster 4. Juli in Amerika. Und Culpeper hatte einiges zu bieten. Leider leider musste unser Papa heute arbeiten. Nichts desto trotz haben wir drei uns aufgemacht, ein wenig von dem grossen Tag hier mitzubekommen. Angefangen hat es fuer uns mit einer grossen Auto- und Motorradshow, welche in der super schoenen Davis Street statt fand. Ich hoffe, man erkennt auf manchen Fotos ein wenig die wunderschoenen alten Haeuser. Der schoenste Teil von Culpeper wenn man mich fragt. Es war super heiss an diesem vormittag aber wir gaben uns alle Muehe uns durch die Menschenmassen zu kaempfen.

Our first 4th of July in America. And Culpeper offered a lot. Sad our Dad had to work today so we couldn't enjoy it altogether. But the three of us got ready and were trying to spend some time in town to join the people at this great big day here. It all started for us with a big car and bike show in the beautiful Davis Street. I hope you can see on some pictures how nice these houses look like. I think and believe it is the most beautiful part of Culpeper. It was really hot this morning but we tried our best to enjoy it and to make our way through the crowd.

Gabriel hat die Autos fotografiert. Es gab natuerlich viele viele mehr aber ich finde, er hat sich sehr schoene ausgesucht. In erster Linie waren die Fotos natuerlich fuer den Papa bestimmt. Aber wir moechten sie Euch allen nicht vorenthalten:).
Gabriel took all the photos of the cars. Of course there were much more but I think he picked some real nice ones. First of all the pictures were taken for Daddy. But we don't want to hide them:).

Dann ging es zu den Bikes. Then we went to the bikes.

das "The P's Bike" finden wir/"The P's Bike" we think

Wir mussten feststellen, dass dieses Bike doch wirklich super fuer uns waere. Zumindest wuerden alle 4 draufpassen:)
We realized this would be the perfect bike for us. At least the 4 of us would all fit:)

Es kamen immer wieder neue Maschinen dazu.
New bikes arrived all the time.

Natuerlich gab es auch alte und neuere Armee-Wagen.
