Halloween Teil 2 / Part 2

Nachdem es zuerst so aussah, als ob Gabriel nicht gross etwas erleben wuerde an Halloween ging es dann doch los. Er hatte sich eigentlich riesig gefreut, mit seinen Kumpels hier ein wenig um die Haeuser zu ziehen. Unter der Woche haben diese ihm aber dann mitgeteilt dass sie schon zu alt seien und nicht losziehen wuerden. Die Enttaeuschung war riesig und nach wie vor sind wir der Meinung, dass man mit 11 Jahren garantiert noch NICHT zu alt ist.

First it looked like Gabriel wouldn't have much of a Halloween but then we got started. He was really looking forward to go Trick or Treating with his friends. During the last week they finally told him they wouldn't go because they are to old. Gabriel was really disappointed and we do think being 11 years old doesn't mean you are to OLD.

Unser pinkes Supergirl - wir haben fuer sie jetzt nicht extra ein Kostuem gekauft... naechstes Jahr dann vielleicht. Aber sie hat auch so einiges Suesses bekommen und fand die vielen bunten Kostueme ganz lustig. Angst hatte Klara keine.

Our pink Super Girl - we haven't bought a costume for her ... maybe next year then. But she got some candies as well and she enjoyed all them costumes around her and wasn't afraid a bit.

Culpeper hatte ein "Trick or Treat" fuer alle Bewohner. Jeder konnte dorthin und es gab was feines fuer die Kinder.

Culpeper had "Trick or Treat". Anyone could go there and they had some nice things for the kids.

So leer sieht man die Davis Street in Culpeper selten. Die Strasse war komplett gesperrt, da die Kinder hier ebenfalls "Trick or Treat" machen konnten. Fast an jedem Geschaeft entlang der Strasse standen oder sassen die Geschaeftsinhaber und gaben Suessigkeiten fuer die Kinder aus. Das war sehr schoen und schon mal ein schoener Vorgeschmack fuer Gabriel.

You hardly ever see the Davis Street that empty. The street was blocked because the kids were "Trick or Treating" here. Almost in front of each store along the road were the owners sitting or standing and gave out sweets to the kids. That was really nice and fun for Gabriel.

Anschliessend fuhren wir noch die Virginia Avenue entlang. Etwas weiter entfernt von unserem Haus ist eine Neubausiedlung und dort fuhren wir eine Weile herum bis es dunkel wurde. Dann parkten wir und liefen von Haus zu Haus. Gabriel UND Klara gingen an die Eingangstueren und bekamen viele Sachen geschenkt. Spaeter traf Gabriel dann doch tatsaechlich noch einen Jungen aus seiner Klasse und wir liessen die beiden dann alleine noch durch die Strassen flitzen. Gabriel hatte riesigen Spass und seine Tuete war am Ende mehr als voll! Es wurde doch noch ein schoenes Halloween an das er sich hoffentlich noch lange erinnert. Das ERSTE HALLOWEEN in Amerika - in Culpeper!

After this we drove up the Virginia Avenue. A bit further down the road are lots of new houses and we were driving around until it was getting dark. We parked the car and Gabriel AND Klara went for "Trick or Treat". They got lots of sweets. Later on Gabriel met a boy from his class and we let them two run around and collect more candies. Gabriel had lots of fun and his bag was more than full at the end. It turned out to be a nice Halloween evening for all of us and I hope he won't forget it. The FIRST HALLOWEEN in America - in Culpeper!
