Daddy is busy

Viele unserer Sachen hatten wir das eine Jahr bei meiner Schwester im Keller einlagern dürfen. Das war wirklich eine ganz tolle Sache, denn so konnten wir nach unserer Ankunft in Mainz gleich mit dem Aufbau loslegen.

We kept a lot of our stuff in my sisters´basement. Especially our kitchen and this was great. After we got used to the time difference and relaxed a little bit we got busy and were able to set up the whole kitchen.

Während Papa oben im 2. Stock die Küche aufbaute, war Klara auf eine andere Art beschäftigt. Sie spielt gerne im Sandkasten im Hof, der zur Wohnung gehört. Das ist eine ganz tolle Sache und zwischendurch eine gute Beschäftigung für die Kleine.

While Daddy was setting up the kitchen on the third floor Klara was busy with something else. She loves to play in the sand in the backyard. It is a great way to keep her busy and entertained without going to a playground.

Dass der Container so schnell zu uns nach Mainz gelangte, überraschte uns wirklich sehr.

Am 18. Mai wurde alles in Culpeper verladen und bereits am 10. Juni stand der Container bei uns vor dem Haus...naja nicht wirklich!

Obwohl wir die Speditionsfirma mehrmals vor der Anlieferung darüber informierten, dass durch eine große Baustelle der Container evtl. nicht VOR dem Haus halten konnte, wurde das erstmal ignoriert. Leider. Um 7.30 Uhr morgens klingelte der Fahrer des Containers bei uns und teilte uns mit, dass er unmöglich mit dem großen Kasten hier in die Straße kommen würde.
Nach langem Hin und Her wurde bei der "Hertz" Autovermietung dieser Lieferwagen gemietet und im Shuttle System unsere Kisten herangeschafft. Das war sehr zeitaufwendig und dauerte fast 8 Stunden.

We didn´t expect our Container that soon.

On th 18th of May it left Culpeper and on the 10th of June it was already here in Mainz. Even so we told the company about the problems in front of the house here - they kinda ignored it. We still have lots of construction going on out here and we were afraid the Container wouldn´t have a place to park. Well...we were right.

7:30 am the driver of the truck rang the door bell and told us he wouldn´t even make it into our street. So after they called many people they finally rented this mini van and started a Shuttle Service. It took them almost 8 hours to get all of our stuff to the house.

Bedingt durch den Shuttle Service stellten die 3 angetretenen Möbelpacker bald fest, dass sie das alleine so nicht schaffen würden. So kam im Laufe des vormittags noch Verstärkung und zu fünft ging es dann etwas zügiger. Gott sei Dank war es nicht sehr heiß an dem Tag - aber ich denke, die 5 wussten am Ende des Tages, was sie geleistet hatten.

Because of the Shuttle Service the 3 movers realized they needed help or they wouldn´t make it. During the morning two more showed up and it worked a little bit better. Thankfully it wasn´t so hot that day but still I think these 5 men knew what they had done at the end of the day.

Gegen ca. 16 Uhr waren die Männer fertig und unsere Wohnung das absolute Chaos. Die anderen Zimmer habe ich mit all ihren Kisten gar nicht fotografiert. Es dauert sicher eine ganze Weile, bis alles ausgepackt ist und verteilt auf die richtigen Räume. Aber zumindest ist alles da und wir legen los...!

Around 4 pm the guys had left and our apartment was a big mess. All the rooms were packed with boxes and I didn´t take any pictures of that. I´m sure it will take us a while to make it through all that but at least we can get started...!
